Project Overview

City Academy required a £6m refurbishment across six floors of an occupied building. Originally a converted 1990s office block, intrusive surveys revealed significant fire and acoustic non-compliances.

We supported Core Education Trust through planning, procurement, phasing strategy and full contract administration.

 

Compliance & Phasing

The school remained open throughout, requiring a floor-by-floor phasing strategy with a contractor-only external stair. We integrated compliance upgrades into the design and resolved legacy deficiencies throughout the building.

 

Outcome

Completed in September 2023, the refurbishment delivered modernised classrooms, improved circulation, upgraded WCs, a new LRC and full M&E improvements — all delivered safely in a live school environment.
