      <image:caption>The new school had to support this vision with versatile teaching spaces ensuring that each student would receive a tailor-made development programme meeting their specific individual needs. Facilities had to support various forms of education including development therapies, sensory programmes and different types of sport and movement activities. In addition, the building had to be highly sustainable and energy efficient with a strong emphasis on the use of natural light and ventilation.</image:caption>

Their aim was to create a school that would provide the same level and quality of education as its partner school, Spa School Bermondsey which was awarded an Ofsted ‘Outstanding in all areas’ in 2015/16. Spa School’s vision is to ensure that all students are happy, safe and healthy and can achieve at every level. They focus on developing self-advocacy and independence whilst improving communication, behaviour and social interaction.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Phoenix Academy required a complete redevelopment of its outdated buildings, supported by a residential enabling scheme delivering around 360 new homes. The masterplan combines new Academy facilities, sports buildings and improved public access. Working directly for Future Academies we have been supporting them with the redevelopment of the Phoenix Academy via the disposal of the part of the site for residential development. The final deal will see Future Academies receive £42 million and the total GDV is circa £180 million.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Work - Phoenix Academy - Mixed-Use Master Planning</image:title>
      <image:caption>The project required coordination of two parallel design streams — education and residential — both closely linked for viability. We managed consultant teams, viability iterations, massing adjustments for conservation constraints and extensive public consultation. We have been involved from a very early stage and our scope included: appointment of the consultants and surveyors; overseeing an initial RIBA Stage 3 design in 2019; a competitive land sale; negotiation of the development agreement; a revised RIBA Stage 3 design in 2023/24; obtaining Section 77 DfE approval for the land sale; and working with the appointed developer, London Square, to prepare a joint masterplan planning application for a large new school building and 265 residential units, with 37% being affordable rent units. Currently, the project is in for planning with Hammersmith and Fulham. This project has been a complex long running affair, which has survived many challenges including high inflation, London Square being sold and the Building Safety Act.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>The Charter School East Dulwich is a major two-phase secondary school development on the former East Dulwich Hospital site. Phase 1 delivered a fully new-build teaching environment, while Phase 2 will refurbish the historic Chateau building once the NHS vacates. Precise phasing ensured the school opened on time, with multiple buildings handed over in a staged sequence.       <image:caption>Project Overview The College of North West London required a comprehensive estate strategy across its Willesden and Wembley campuses. Many buildings were outdated, inefficient or under-utilised, prompting a complete masterplan to deliver modern teaching accommodation funded through residential and commercial enabling development. We supported the College from early feasibility through RIBA Stage 2 design, procurement strategy and management of a competitive dialogue process via the London Development Panel.</image:caption>

This involved bidder engagement, evaluation frameworks, iterative design reviews and final tender assessment. Our role continues through commercial negotiations, viability testing and shaping an aligned regeneration strategy for the four sites.</image:title>

Delivered while the school remained fully operational, the project created a series of sculptural teaching blocks arranged around generous landscaped courtyards, establishing a contemporary academic environment of exceptional architectural quality. The redevelopment formed part of Wandsworth Council’s Building Schools for the Future programme and is now widely recognised as one of the most successful educational schemes in the UK.</image:caption>

We developed complex safeguarding strategies, full segregation of contractors, shifting compounds across the site, and ensured all site operatives held enhanced CRB checks — enabling teaching to continue uninterrupted for almost three years.</image:caption>

The existing All-Saints Annex had reached the end of its useful life and no longer reflected the collaborative, project-based approach the leadership team wished to embed. The chosen site — a constrained rear yard behind the Annex with direct access to the main museum — demanded a construction strategy that would minimise disruption while delivering a high-quality, future-focused workspace. The result is Parkside: a contemporary modular building that now brings IWM’s teams together in a single, connected environment.</image:caption>

The building demonstrates how modern methods of construction can coexist with architectural ambition on challenging urban sites. The project has since been recognised as Offsite Project of the Year at the Building Awards — a testament to the collaborative approach adopted by the team and the resilience with which challenges were managed. Parkside now provides IWM with a contemporary, efficient and connected headquarters that supports the organisation’s future.</image:caption>
